CASTORCRETE® Urethane Cement Mortar is designed for use in the most demanding food and beverage processing areas where high resistance to impact, abrasion and chemical resistance to organic food acids is required.
During the design phase of a project, there are many design options available when planning for custom concrete. Think of concrete flooring as a blank slate onto which you can create a statement and enhance the decor.
Custom Concrete Prep and Polish proudly uses the Consolideck® Flooring System by PROSOCO. PROSOCO has made a name for itself as a pioneer in the chemical construction industry.
Three reasons to love polished concrete floors for business: durability, design and sustainability.
To properly grind, hone and polish concrete and obtain the maximum "clarity of reflection" and "durability", a proper grit sequence must be used that allows for full refinement of the concrete surface. Not performing full refinement from one progressively finer grit to the next will not allow the floor to reach its maximum durability and will cause the surface to prematurely wear.
Light reflecting polished concrete floors combines the positive properties of concrete (strength, low maintenance, sustainability) with the property of retroreflection. Retroreflective surfaces precisely reflect incident light (sunlight or artificial light) back towards the light source.
More restrictive regulations are requiring low volatile organic compounds (VOC) in construction materials such as paint and coatings applications. It is important to know the characteristics of concrete flooring sealers, which can vary from very high VOC (more than 400 grams per liter) to very low VOC (less than 100 grams per liter).
ESD, electrostatic discharge, is the sudden spontaneous transfer of electric current. Copy machines, computers, medical and communications equipment are all susceptible to ESD. In facilities with constant heavy loads and high traffic, epoxies are the most practical static control flooring material.
Epoxy and polyurethane are great for protecting concrete floor against stains, damage, chemicals, oils, and wear. They are both light reflective, easy to clean, and long-lasting. There is a third player in this space, Polyaspartic coatings.
A beautifully finished decorative concrete floor must go through a fairly involved process to achieve the intended outcome. From the "pure" pour through the glossy finish, concrete needs to be chemically altered before a floor is ready for prime time. Densifiers and sealers are applied to decorative concrete flooring at different stages and serve different purposes.
As the first urban in-fill commercial building that received Living Building certification, the Bullitt Center is pushing the leading edge of performance-based design. Net-zero energy, net-zero water, onsite treatment of sewage and exclusion of many common “Red List” materials are just some reasons the Bullitt Center is innovative.
Decorative concrete overlays are sometimes viewed as a lesser choice to polished or stained concrete flooring. Whether giving existing concrete floors a total makeover or as an option to new concrete floors, decorative concrete overlays offer beauty, strength and unlimited design options.
Custom Concrete Prep and Polish is proud to be a certified applicator of the RetroPlate Concrete Polishing System®. The RetroPlate™ System allows our production teams to combine the effects of diamond grinding and polishing with a one-application densifying sealer.
OSHA estimates that about two million construction workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in over 600,000 workplaces. Custom Concrete Prep and Polish meets OSHA Crystalline Silica Rule guidelines.
While the final polish finish is the end-game for custom concrete applications, aggregate exposure in custom concrete flooring can add a dimension of beauty and interest to the finished product.
Many times during a construction project, decorative concrete flooring is completed before the construction is completed.
We show and tell the different levels of polished concrete and the processes by which the polishes are achieved.
Regular maintenance keeps your custom concrete floors in top condition. Cleaning, refreshing, revitalizing and evaluating should be done regularly.
If it wasn't for the burnishing process, the "polish" in polished concrete would be quite dull. Burnishing concrete brings out the glossy shine of polished concrete.
Unlike concrete, the Urethane Modified Concrete system is impervious to water and various other liquids, making it ideal for the food and beverage industry, as well as any industry that requires a daily wash down and/or sterilization, such as the pharmaceutical industry.
